Head Instructor
Nori Bunasawa - Shichidan (7th Degree Black Belt)

Judo itself can be studied as an art; a method of self-defense; an effective sport and most importantly, as a way of life. The word Judo translates “the gentle way” because it does not use force to subdue an opponent; instead it uses timing and balance. The techniques taught in Judo allow students to train with “minimum effort, maximum efficiency,” a motto true to the sport. Until the 2000 Sidney Olympics where Tae-Kwon Do was introduced as an Olympic sport, Judo was the only Martial Arts in the Olympics. It is also the most popular sport worldwide after soccer.

Bunasawa-Kai Judo/ Jujitsu /Jukendo Dojo’s emphasis is on basic Judo skills through both physical and mental discipline. A staff of highly recognized instructors teaches students, often on a one on one basis. The head instructor, Nori Bunasawa Shihan (Master of the Art of Judo/Jukendo ), is a 7th Dan (degree of red and white belt).  Bunasawa Sensei is a former US World Team coach, Japanese World/Olympic team member and has been an international champion many times. He also performed Judo for many TV commercials, and films (ABC, Bob Hope etc.). Assistant instructor to Bunasawa Sensei is former US Masters Judo Champion and self-defense instructor, Ken Vanderlip. Along with both Vanderlip and Bunasawa Sensei is M. Vosoughi (2nd Dan) and D. Armer (1st Dan), instructors. With these four instructors, the Bunasawa-Kai Judo Club has produced many national-level competitors and champions.

The program is offered twice a week for 16 weeks a session. Registration is $80.00 per month for the lesson or $135.00 for the session (2 month).
